Bob- Don't Pass any Truck Drivers- Your Mom is Undressing in the back seat!

Bob and Vivian and I were driving to visit Angie & Garth and family in Fresno. Your mom /Great :) Grandma and I were enjoying a hot cup of coffee from Mc Donalds for the road trip. Viv doesn't like the lids and was enjoying that cup of coffee when for what ever reason-- sudden stop, cow in the road ???? clumsiness (that's usually my special talent)??? She had a little accident and spilled coffee all over her pants. She must have known in that moment how our little ones who are being pottie trained must feel . So YOUR GRANDMA DID A undressed in the back seat of the Corolla. Off with the longjohns...off with the pants (Acutally the windows in the back have a pretty dark tint so we didn't have to avoid too many big rigs). I held a blanket up to block BOB and the front windows and windsheild. Luckily with our quick thinking and her pants were a light weight material-- she gave me her britches and we put the heater on high and held them up to the vent and she was able to get dressed before before we reached our destination. It definetly helped pass that long boring stretch of road from Los Banos to the 99. What can we say-Vivian every road trip with you is a wonderful experience!!!!

Hmmmmm. This is a really tough one. Trying to figure out how many clocks grandma has is like trying to count the number of grey hairs on Bob and Rich's heads; they just go on and on forever! Well, here goes. My guess is that grandma has 67 clocks in her house.

Young Frankentstein and Iowa

Surprisingly, I think this is one of my first vivid memories at Grandma's house. I remember that we were going to fly out to Iowa the next morning. Our flight was going to leave in the morning, which should have been early enough, but I guess it wasn't for me. I remember being so excited that I couldn't sleep. I probably laid in bed for half an hour just thinking about what the plane ride would be like. I can't remember if I woke Grandma up, or if I was just up in my room and she heard me, but she came in and told me that I needed to get some sleep because tomorrow was going to be a big day. There was no way that I could go back to sleep, so I asked if I could stay up and watch Young Frankenstein. I remember Grandma telling me to keep the volume really low. I assured her that I wouldn't wake anybody up because I didn't even need the volume.... "I already know all the words." Grandma must have had a chuckle walking back to her bedroom.

Now that I think about it, I remember that the old TV had headphones that you could plug into it. I wonder why I didn't just use those? Anyway, thanks for being so nice at three in the morning. I still think I know all the words.

The Ultimate Betrayal!

Well, I guess it had to happen one day. I will never forget the first time that Grandma asked Kent what dessert he wanted when we came over instead of me. I was shocked. I felt betrayed, bewildered, and bam-boozled. How could my loving Grandma leave me in the dust like that. Ha-Ha

I guess I got over it pretty quick though, because anything that Grandma cooks is delicious. Thank you for opening your heart and your kitchen to my hubby. You are a special part of our lives, and we value all the advice and talks that we have with you.

Trips to the Jelly Belly Factory

I always loved to go to visit Grandma and Grandpa because they would always take us on cool little day trips. We were never bored at their house. I especially liked the Jelly Belly Factory because of the pictures made with all jelly bellies and the "belly flops". I still get them today instead of the regular jelly bellies.

Thanks for all the time and energy you put into planning these trips. We all appreciate them, and love the memories made on them.

Waking up with Grandma

Remember how we used to all climb into bed with Grandma and Grandpa when we woke up in the morning. Well, now that I have little nieces and nephews that climb into bed with me, I would just like to apologize to you, Grandma, for all those mornings that you could have slept in!
